(Editor’s Note: California Senate District 4 includes 13 counties and ranging from the northeast Central Valley, the Central Sierra Nevada and all of Death Valley. The district is represented by 52-year-old Maria Alvarado-Gil, a fiscal conservative, from Jackson, first elected in 2022 as a Democrat but who changed her party in 2024.)

(Editor’s Note: Georgia Congressman Buddy Carter, R-1, is 68-years-old, first elected in 2014 to serve in coastal southern Georgia. He is running for Georgia Senator in 2026. Previously Carter served on the Pooler Zoning Commission from 1989 to 1993 and on the City Council from 1994 to 1995 and then as Mayor from 1996 to 2004. He also served on the Georgia State House District 159 from 2005 to 2009 and as a Georgia State Senator District 1 from 2009 to 2014. He is Methodist. Georgia 79-year-old Congressman Sanford Bishop, D-2, has served since 1992 and is a member of the Congressional Black Caucus and is also a Blue Dog Democrat. From 1977 to 1990 Bishop served in the Georgia House District 94 and in 1990 he was elected to Georgia’s 15 Senate District. He is a Baptist attorney.
