Previously he served in the U.S. House, 9th District from 2007 to 2023. He is a Joe Biden supporter who is anti-U.S. Supreme Court because of their decision against Roe v. Wade. Before being elected to office he owned companies that worked with wind energy.)

(Editor’s Note: Maryland’s 67-year-old Democrat Senator Chris Van Hollen was first elected in 2017. He was Chair of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee from 2017 to 2019. Van Hollen was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives 8th District from 2003 to 2017. During his years in the House, he served as Chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee from 2007 to 2011 and was also House Democratic Assistant to the Leader from 2009 to 2011. Earlier, Van Hollen was a member of the Maryland Senate 18th District from 1995 to 2003 and before he was a member of the Maryland House of Delegates 18th District from 1991 to 1995. He is an attorney. Maryland’s 55-year-old Senator Angela Alsobooks is an attorney that has been serving since 2025. She is Maryland’s first African-American senator and the third African-American woman elected to the U.S. Senate. She is the second woman to represent Maryland in the Senate. Previously she was the 8th executive of Prince George’s County from 2018 to 2024, the first Black female county executive in Maryland history and State’s Attorney of Prince George’s County from 2011 to 2018. Originally, she was a domestic violence prosecutor. Kamala Harris supported her campaign for state’s attorney.)
