(Editor’s Note: California Senate District 10 includes the East Bay of Alameda County and the northwestern corner of Silicon Valley in Santa Clara County and is represented by Aisha Wahab, D-10, since 2022, the first Muslim and Afghan-American elected to office in the United States in 2018 to the Hayward City Council. Wahab and her sister were raised by an Afghan couple in Fremont after her father was murdered and her mother died while quite young. She is running for the U.S. Congressional District 14 seat that was previously held by Congressman Eric Swalwell. Currently, Wahab is the Senate Assistant Majority Leader.)

He is a pro-choice, pro same-sex marriage advocate, and is one of the wealthiest members of Congress. He served in the San Diego City Council from 2000 to 2008 and was also a Commissioner of the United Ports of San Diego, on the Coastal Commission, an economist and a deputy county counsel in San Diego.)

(Editor’s Note: Florida’s 59-year-old Democrat Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Fort Lauderdale, was first elected 2005 to 2013 to represent the 20th District, the 23rd District from 2013 to 2023 and the 25th District from 2023. She is Jewish and a Planned Parenthood advocate. Wasserman Schultz was chair of the Democratic National Committee from 2011 to 2016 and a member of the Florida Senate serving Districts 32 and 34 from 2000 to 2004 and the Florida House of Representatives serving from 1992 to 2000. Florida’s 64-year-old Republican Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart is a Cuban-American Catholic and has served in Congress representing District 25 from 2003 to 2011, District 21 from 2011 to 2013, District 25 from 2013 to 2023, and District 26 since 2023. Previously, he served in the Florida House 112 District from 2000 to 2002 the Florida Senate District 37 from 1992 to 2000 and represented Florida House 115 District from 1988 to 1992. Diaz-Balart is the chair and founding member of the Republican Congressional Hispanic Conference. The Florida Congressional delegation consists of 20 Republicans and 8 Democrats.)
