(Editor’s Note: New Jersey’s 57-year-old Democrat Senator Corey Booker was first elected in 2013 and is the Chair of the Senate Democratic Strategy Communications Committee. He was the 38th Mayor of Newark from 2006 to 2013 and served as a council member from 1998 to 2002. Booker is the first African American Senator from New Jersey and is an attorney that initially ran free legal clinics for low-income residents. He also was a non-profit executive. New Jersey’s 43-year-old Senator Andy Kim has been in office since 2024 is the 1st Korean American in the U.S. Senate. Previously, he served in the 3rd District of the U.S. House of Representatives from 2019 to 2024. Kim was a civilian advisor for the State Department in Afghanistan during President Barack Obama’s administration and also served in the United States National Security Council.)
