(Editor’s Note: 45-year-old California State Senator Lena Gonzalez, was first elected in 2019 and has served as both Majority Leader of the California Senate (2024-2025) and as Minority Whip in 2021. She chaired the Senate Transportation Committee and is the first Latina and woman to serve in those positions. Previously she served in the Long Beach City Council from 2014-2019. Prior to office, she was a Microsoft Corporate Affairs Manager. Gonzalez is the daughter of Mexican immigrants and was born in Torrance.)

He served in the U.S. House from 2008-2012 in the 9th District and from 2012 to 2014 in the 14th District. Peters was also a Commissioner of Michigan’s Lottery system and previously an investment banker for Paine Webber. His family has lived in Michigan since the 1840s. Michigan’s 49-years-old Democratic Senator Elissa Slotkin has been a U.S. Senator since 2024. Previously, she served in the U.S. House for the 8th District from 2018 to 2022 and in the 7th District from 2022 to 2024. Before serving in office, she was an analyst for the Central Intelligence Agency and worked for both the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Defense Department.)
