Exploring My Background and Experience
Mike Hernandez is a former Southern California daily newspaper journalist. He previously taught communication students at community, public and private universities. Hernandez has both a bachelor’s degree in communication from Pepperdine University (Malibu CA) where he helped start and manage the college radio station (KMBU) and a master’s degree in communication from CBN University (Virginia Beach, VA) now known as Regent University (where he served as a communication graduate assistant).
Mike Hernandez has worked with business start-ups: helped new businesses launch with a public relations and marketing campaign prior to “officially” launching. Mike Hernandez is president and founder of Caleb Communications Company, a public relations communication company launched by Mike Hernandez, an accredited public relations (APR) professional through the Public Relations Society of America. Mike was an Office of the Chancellor California State University Public Affairs employee responsible for statewide employee communications from 1985-87.
Mike Hernandez has worked with community nonprofits: writing news releases and sharing the vision, mission, story of community nonprofits. Mike Hernandez was founder and president of History Makers International (1977) which provided supplemental educational services (tutoring) in 7 different locations from 40 credentialed teachers for K-12 students using No Child Left Behind federal funding through the California Department of Education and the Los Angeles Unified School District.
Mike Hernandez has written both church and revival news for various churches and online news platforms since 2013. He is the author of “Prayer Over News Daily” (POND) which posts Monday through Friday.
Current Endeavors and Goals
Mike Hernandez also works as the editor and writer for religion and news for CaliRed News substack, which can be found on Mountain Top Media and Citizens Journal. He posts “Prayer Over News Daily” (POND) on Monday through Friday, hosts a Friday afternoon prayer call, and edits the weekly “Stories Speak Volumes.” He writes regular Shasta County, CA stories as well as mentors and trains citizen journalists and podcasters from across the nation.
Mike Hernandez is a founding member and the first Secretary of the Shasta County Republican Assembly (SCRA), formed in 2022. The SCRA is a chapter of the California Republican Assembly created in 1935 that the 40th President Ronald Reagan (from 1981-1987) and former 33rd California Governor (from 1967-1975) called “the conscience of the Republican Party.”
Mike Hernandez is seeking to work with Christian, conservative, constitutional candidates running for elected office in California with a focus on encouraging a Republican agenda in California.
