(Editor’s Note: California Senate District 39 is represented by 47-year-old Democrat Akilah Weber Pierson of central San Diego, first elected in 2024, and previously served the 79th California State Assembly District winning a special election replacing her mother, California Secretary of State Shirley Weber in 2021.)

He is a lawyer who retired from the U.S. Army, where he was a paratrooper, infantryman and Judge Advocate General’s Corp attorney deployed in Iran. Previously, he was a deputy legal advisor for the U.S. National Security Council. Virginia Congressman Don Beyer is 75-years-old and has served in office since 2015 representing northern Virginia and eastern Fairfax County. From 1990 to 1998 he served two terms as Virginia Lieutenant Governor and presided over the Virginia Senate. From 2009 to 2013 he was the U.S. ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein appointed by President Barack Obama. Earlier he was the owner of nine automobile dealerships in Virginia and is a millionaire. He is an Episcopalian. The Virginia Congressional delegation is made up of 11 members: 6 Democrats and 5 Republicans.)
