Previously he served two deployments in Afghanistan with the U.S. Army and was awarded two Bronze Star Medals. His motivation to run for public office was due to the 2020-21 U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. North Carolina has a Congressional delegation of 11 members: 6 Democrats and 5 Republicans.)
