(Editor’s Note: California State Senator Maria Elena Durazo, 72-years-old, was first elected in 2018 to represent Senate District 24 before serving in Senate District 26. She also served as the Secretary-Treasurer of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor from 2006 to 2014 and then became Executive Vice President for the national AFL-CIO. Maria Durazo also became Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee. She is running in 2026 for Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors in District 1 which is now represented by Hilda Solis. Durazo was a supporter of Barack Obama for President, has attended law school and is a leader of the Healthy4All Initiative.)

(Editor’s Note: Mississippi Republican Senator Roger Wicker, 74-years-old, was first appointed to the U.S. Senate in 2007. He served as chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee from 2015 to 2017 and as a deputy Republican whip. Wicker also served as a Mississippi Congressman, R-1, from 1995-2007 and was president of the freshman class, which included 53 new representatives elected as part of the 1994 “Republican Revolution” led by Newt Gingrich. Previously, he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1976 to 1980 and then in the US Air Force Reserves from 1980 to 2003. Mississippi Republican Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith, 66-years-old, was appointed to the U.S. Senate in 2018 and is the first woman to represent Mississippi in Congress. She was elected to the Mississippi State Senate as a Democrat, 39th District, and served from 2000 to 2012 before switching parties citing her conservative beliefs. Hyde-Smith was elected Mississippi agricultural commissioner in 2011 and reelected in 2015. Prior to her running for elected office she served as a lobbyist. Mississippi has had both Senate seats occupied by Republican senators since 1989 and the state last elected a Democrat Senator in 1982.)
