What types of training do you offer?
Our training is to cover the basics of reporting and storytelling, to understand how to read and interpret an agenda, placing the most important information at the top of the story, preemptively answering questions a reader might have, and how to write a news story using a compelling lead paragraph. These trainings will focus on how to answer the “who, what, why, when, how?” questions.
How can I enroll in your workshops?
Enrolling in our workshops is simple. You can click the “RSVP” button for the workshop that you are looking to participate, enter your name and email, and we will send you a confirmation email once we have received your RSVP.
What is the duration of your training workshops?
Each workshop training will be completed in 3 hours.
Are there any prerequisites for your training programs?
Our training programs do not require prerequisites, making them accessible to everyone. However, the later courses may build off prior material and knowledge, so we recommend participating in each one and especially the Citizens Journalism 101 course to fully benefit from the training.
How frequently do you have workshops?
There will be 5 workshops over the course of 10 months. These courses will be made available through the product page after completion if you were unable to attend live.
Are the workshops online or in person?
Citizens Journalism 101 will be in person in Redding, CA, but future workshops will be in person and available live online. Though it will not be live streamed, we are working to ensure the 101 course is available online after the event.
