(Editor’s Note: Fresno County is located in the heart of California’s Central Valley and includes communities such as Fresno, Clovis, Sanger, Reedley, and Selma. Residents face issues involving agriculture, water, education, public safety, housing, transportation, economic development, and local government. Citizen journalists can provide an important civic service by attending public meetings, examining public records, asking questions, checking facts, and reporting accurately on issues affecting their communities. Shasta County Office of Education Area 2 Trustee Authur Gorman is serving a term that runs through December 2026 and is running for reelection. Give them patience to listen, diligence to examine public records, wisdom to verify information, and courage to ask difficult questions. Help them distinguish facts from assumptions and report fairly even when the facts may challenge their own opinions. Give them humility to acknowledge mistakes and promptly correct inaccurate reporting. May their work strengthen informed civic participation, accountability, and trust within their communities. Bless Shasta County Office of Education Area 2 Trustee Authur Gorman as he serves students, families, educators, and communities in his area. Give him wisdom to listen carefully to the concerns of parents, educators, students, fellow trustees, and constituents. As he carries out his current responsibilities and seeks reelection, help him maintain integrity and a clear focus on the educational needs of students. Give him discernment in evaluating policies, budgets, educational priorities, and information presented to the board. Give them patience to hear constituents with differing perspectives and wisdom to distinguish reliable evidence from political rhetoric. Give Senator Grove and Assemblymember Hoover integrity when facing political pressure and courage when difficult decisions must be made. Help them consider the long-term consequences of legislation as well as its immediate effects. May they use their positions responsibly, respect the constitutional responsibilities of their offices, and faithfully represent the people who have entrusted them with public service. Give them humility to receive wise counsel and courage to act according to their convictions.”

Give him wisdom in decisions involving veterans’ health care, benefits, mental health services, claims, and the administration of programs intended to serve those who have sacrificed for the nation. Surround him with capable advisers and help him recognize both administrative challenges and opportunities to improve service. Bless Congressman Vince Fong with wisdom and discernment as he represents California’s 20th Congressional District. Help him listen carefully to constituents and examine legislation with diligence. Give him understanding regarding the agricultural, water, energy, economic, public-safety, and infrastructure concerns affecting his district. Help him weigh competing interests fairly and consider the consequences of federal policy for the people he represents. Give both Secretary Collins and Congressman Fong integrity, humility, courage, and sound judgment.
